GYS PROTIG 230 AC/DC

Protig 230 ac/dc is an inverter welder for TIG and MMA welding; this welder is suitable for working on iron, stainless steel, and cast iron with direct current (DC) and for working on aluminum and alloys with alternating current (AC). The arc ignition in TIG mode can be selected between HF (high frequency) or LIFT.

This welding machine can develop a maximum current of 230 A in AC and 180 A in direct current (DC); the welding generator is capable of sustaining a duty cycle of 140 A at 60%, making the welder suitable for many sectors and uses: automotive, light carpentry, installations, repairs... and thanks to its new design reinforced with solid protective bumps, it is also suitable for use on construction sites.

Protig 230 AC/DC is equipped with PFC. In addition to ensuring significant energy savings, this component corrects voltage fluctuations in the incoming current and makes it possible to use the welding machine with long extension cords or to power it with a motor generator.

The welding machine has a simple control panel that allows the operator to customize all TIG welding settings to best suit the work to be performed:

• Pre-gas: gas delivery before the arc is ignited.
• Ramp-up: adjustment of the ramp-up time from the start current to the set welding current.
• Ramp-down: gradual decrease in current at the end of welding to fill the crater at the end of the weld.
• Post-gas: delayed interruption of the gas flow
• AC balance: adjustment that allows you to select the desired degree of penetration or cleaning.
• AC frequency: allows you to customize the width of the welding arc
• Ac easy: simplified mode for welding aluminum, excellent function for less experienced operators
• Pulsed: function that alternates the main current with a secondary current for less deformation of the piece
• Spot welding: adjustment of the ignition time for spot welding, ideal on very thin sheets.
• 2T/4T: automatic or manual setting of the torch button
• 4T LOG: setting that allows you to select 2 main currents and manage their use via the torch button

With Protig 230 AC/DC, it is possible to perform MMA welding using rutile and basic coated electrodes with thicknesses ranging from 1.6 to 4 mm. It is equipped with systems that simplify the welding phases:

• HOT-START: voltage peak during ignition to facilitate the ignition of the welding arc, very useful for igniting basic coated electrodes.
• ANTIS-TICK: automatic system that prevents the electrode from sticking to the base material.
• ARC-FORCE: device that increases the strength of the arc to prevent it from extinguishing; useful when the operator is busy welding in particular positions.
